Biography

Kevin began his career as an Army Judge Advocate officer, serving with the U.S. Army's Third Infantry Division as a prosecutor and legal advisor to combat commanders. He then moved to Arlington, Virginia, where he represented Soldiers in appeals in criminal cases, and later defended the Army in civil lawsuits across the country. Kevin then joined the U.S. Department of Justice, as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia, the “rocket docket,” where he defended the United States in civil litigation; in so doing, he counseled dozens of senior federal government officials through various litigation matters. Also as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, Kevin led complex procurement fraud investigations into some of the nation’s largest defense contractors, working closely with teams of federal law enforcement officers, forensic accountants, and other professionals. Kevin left the Justice Department to join the Federal Reserve Board of Governors Enforcement Division as Senior Counsel, investigating unsafe/unsound banking practices in some of the country’s largest financial institutions.

After a twenty-year career in federal service, and earning a mid-career MBA from a top-ten business school, Kevin entered private practice as Managing Director of Maher Legal Services, a boutique law firm dedicated to serving warriors and veterans. Most recently, Kevin served for two years as the Chief Compliance Officer for Luxurban Hotels, Inc., a luxury hotel company that consummated its initial public offering during Kevin's tenure, and that continues to flourish as a publicly-traded company.

Throughout his career, Kevin has found time for community service. He served on the Board of Directors of Western Fairfax Christian Ministries from 2015-2022, founding the Risk Management Committee, and, as the organization’s Treasurer, led the Finance Committee. Kevin has also coached his three kids (of whom he is enormously proud) in various stages of youth soccer.

Kevin holds an M.B.A from the University of Virginia Darden Graduate School of Business, and a J.D. from the Dickinson School of Law of Pennsylvania State University. Kevin is also a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional, a certification conferred by the Society for Corporate Compliance and Ethics.
